Approach

Children are involved in hands-on experiences, real-life adventures, and assisted discovery as they explore concepts through play.

Each child will experience learning through music, puppetry, reading and “book walks”, and sign language.

Milestones for Infants

Birth to 3 Months

  • Recognizes familiar faces
  • Turns head at noises
  • Smiles
  • Makes cooing sounds
  • Watches the person talking to him/her
  • Shows he is happy, sad, upset, etc.
  • Sucks on finger or fist
  • Holds on to finger
  • Lifts head
  • Begins to roll over
  • Holds rattle briefly

3 to 6 Months

  • Watches own hands
  • Looks at things around him/her
  • Get quiet when he/she hears voices
  • Looks toward noises
  • Reaches for toys
  • Babbles (da da, ma ma)
  • Laughs
  • Gets upset at the loss of a toy
  • Responds to others
  • Wants to try food
  • Gets excited when about to be fed
  • Can suck or close lips on spoon to get food
  • Holds head up
  • Can roll from back to tummy

6 to 9 Months

  • Rolls a ball
  • Repeats actions
  • Imitates sounds
  • Acknowledges when name is called
  • Waves bye-bye
  • Feeds self with fingers
  • Alternates toy in hand
  • Sits up
  • Begins to crawl
